Track C

Awareness level strategy

Awareness is what the visitor already believes at the moment they land. Get it wrong and the page either insults them by over-explaining or loses them by assuming too much.

How to tell what you're actually getting

Don't guess from the ad platform. Read the source. Broad interest targeting on short-form video is cold, near enough always. Search intent and email lists are warm. Anyone in a view-content or add-to-cart audience is retargeting.

Cold signal
High reach, low CTR, high bounce, broad targeting, entertainment feeds.
Warm signal
Branded or category search terms, comparison queries, repeat site visits.
Retargeting signal
Pixel audiences of viewers, cart abandoners, past buyers, engaged list.
01

Cold — they don't know you, and may not name the problem

They were being entertained. Your job is not to sell; it's to earn the next thirty seconds. Start inside their experience, not inside your brand. The first line should be a sentence they've already said to themselves.

They believe
Nothing about you. Possibly that the category doesn't work.
Start with
Their problem in their words. No logo, no price, no product name.
Must do
Shift exactly one belief. One page, one idea.
Best formats
Article page, made-for-you page, long-form listicle.
Never
Discount codes and countdowns. You teach a stranger to wait for a sale.
Watch
Time on page and scroll depth. Conversion is a lagging signal here.
02

Warm — they know the category and are comparing

They've accepted the problem and possibly the solution. What they haven't decided is which one, and whether yours is worth the extra. Education about the problem is wasted here; differentiation is everything.

They believe
The category works. They're unsure about you specifically.
Start with
The comparison frame and the criteria that favour you honestly.
Must do
Make the mechanism and the difference legible in one scroll.
Best formats
Listicle, reason-it-works page, quiz to route them to the right variant.
Never
Re-explain the problem from scratch. It reads as padding.
Watch
Click-through to the offer and which comparison section they stop on.
03

Retargeting — they saw it and didn't buy

Something specific stopped them: price, trust, timing, shipping, or the fear of being wrong. This is the only awareness level where you can lead with the offer, because belief is already there.

They believe
It might work. They have one unresolved objection.
Start with
The offer and the risk reversal, immediately.
Must do
Name the objection out loud. 'Still thinking about it?' converts.
Best formats
Deal page, everything page with a strong FAQ, testimonial-heavy page.
Never
Restart the education. You'll bore a buyer who was nearly there.
Watch
Cost per purchase and how often a real deadline lifts it.
